Technology and Innovation for Productivity
Jointly organised by SMBA and A*STAR, “Technology and Innovation for Productivity” was held on 8th May 2014, at Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) Tower Block. The informative event brought together various speakers who discussed initiatives and funding schemes available for SMEs to build a progressive workplace, enhance business capabilities and spur productivity.

SMBA's executive club members were also able to share their productivity challenges with the researchers on site and gain an added edge in productivity through solutions for technology adoptions from A*STAR, Manufacturing Productivity Technology Centre (MPTC), Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and SME Centre @ SICCI.

Accelerate Your Networking Potential in 2014!
It was a high-octane evening for our Executive Club members and their invited guests at the Accelerate Your Networking Potential in 2014! event held on 13 February 2014. With the backdrop of the luxurious Infiniti showroom, the exclusive by-invitation event commenced with a highly engaging introduction to the fine art of Japanese Whisky appreciation.

The programme then proceeded to an informal networking session, presenting our members a unique opportunity to deepen and expand connections with other key players in the local entrepreneurial landscape.

To lend the event a festive note, guests were invited to participate in the delectable Prosperity Toss. Some lucky winners also walked away with fantastic prizes sponsored by Infiniti and Beam Global. It was a truly meaningful and fruitful evening for all our guests. We look forward to the upcoming networking sessions and events as part of SMBA’s committed focus to further strengthen the Executive Club members community bond in 2014.

SMU Real Business: Mentorship Program 2013 | 24 October 2013
The SMU Real Business business venture club successfully launched its inaugural Mentorship Program at SMU University Lounge on 24 October 2013. The highly anticipated event saw student members, business leaders and participating associates attend. The three-month mentorship program was initiated by Real Business members to pair aspiring entrepreneurs with mentors who have already achieved entrepreneurial success in the mentee’s field of interest. The program was launched successfully with the commitment and support of mentors who would provide an avenue for advice and guidance for the mentees through their entrepreneurial journeys.

The opening ceremony commenced with introductory speeches by the mentors and committee members followed by interactive games for mentors to meet their mentees and members of Real Business.

Our Promising SME 500 Luminaries Mr Benjamin Low (D3sign Pte Ltd), Mr Ravi Nahappan (Chinta Manis Pte Ltd) and Mr Jerry Singh (Chaitime Pte Ltd) are enthusiastic supporters of this event and have committed to mentor the Real Business students in the next few weeks to come—it was truly elevating to see these inspiring entrepreneurs share their expertise with the next generation of young talents.

SMU Real Business: Real Journeys Workshop | 17 October 2013
In a recent collaboration with SMBA, Singapore Management University Real Business organized the engaging Real Journeys workshop hosted at the university’s campus on 17 October 2013. Two of SMBA’S successful luminaries Ms Vanessa Wee of DoReiMi Music School Pte Ltd and Ms Joy Khau of Music Solutions delivered inspiring speeches on the performance art/entertainment industries from their rich experiences as seasoned music educators.

Students benefited from their insightful success stories and were challenged to solve realistic issues faced by the entrepreneurs in the open-styled discussions. The workshop was well-received by the participants who learned more about the unique traits of the business ventures as shared by the luminaries, as well as interesting experiences in the Music Industry.

SIM YEN: Research, Funding and Pitching | 26 Nov 2013
The Youth Entrepreneur Network (YEN) hosted a recent seminar, supported by Small and Medium Business Association (SMBA), at SIM campus on 26 November 2013.

Themed “Research, Funding and Pitching,” the event saw a full turn-out. The highly engaging and interactive session was the highlight of the evening with our Business Luminaries Mr Nick Sim of WhizHearts Edu-Centre, Ms Vanessa Wee of DoReiMi Music Society Pte Ltd and Mr Samuel Chia of Seriously Addictive Mathematics invited as guest speakers. The participants eagerly listened as our guest speakers shared invaluable insights on market research, sources of funding and effective pitching skills for YEN members to tap into.
