Audi Premium Experience
Audi's unique blend of premium cars, pioneering technology and passion for innovation and design was on full display at their new Leng Kee Road showroom on the evening of 18 January 2013. This exclusive event was jointly hosted at the top of the luxurious four-story building by the German car maker, British multinational bank HSBC and SMBA, with about 40 luminaries in attendance.

They were all given an opportunity to test-drive a variety of Audi models, including the new Q5, the A5 Cabriolet and Sportback and the S6 and S7. Audi's senior sales manager Mark Lee was on hand to give a short presentation on the company, including an introduction on 'Vorsprung durch Technik' (loosely translated, it means advancement through technology), the company's main slogan. A delicious buffet dinner was made available, while the guests were also given a short tour of the stunning showroom.

And congrats to Mr. Wesley Han, of Mojito Ventures, who won a Sony tablet (sponsored by HSBC) in the mini-lucky draw!

Breakfast Talk: Singapore Economic Outlook 2013
With 2012 firmly behind us, several of SMBA's luminaries ushered in the new year by attending a breakfast talk organised by the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) on 18 January 2013. Held at the hostel building in MDIS' main campus along Stirling Road, the 500-seater auditorium was packed to the rafters with participants eager to hear what CIMB's regional economist Mr. Song Seung Wun and Ms Sanchita Basu Das, the lead researcher of economic affairs at the ASEAN Studies Centre, had to say about the economic climate in 2013.

The morning began with a hearty breakfast spread courtesy of MDIS, before Mr. Song kicked off proceedings with an entertaining and informative presentation. The two-hour talk then concluded with an interactive Q&A session with the speakers with members of the audience, including an intense panel discussion.

Entry Entrepreneur Convention 2012
The Entry Entrepreneur Convention, SMBA's maiden tie-up with the Singapore Institute of Management (SIM), was held over two days at the SIM Headquarters in Clementi. Organized by the SIM Young Entrepreneur Network, a couple of our luminaries were enthusiastic supporters of both events - it was truly heartening to see these inspiring entrepreneurs share their knowledge with the students.

Entry 2012 began with a Biz Workshop on 24 November, with Mr. Alan Tay (executive director of research agency Joshua Research Consultants) and Mr. Daniel Tan (chief marketing officer of internet marketing firm Capillion International) sharing tips on leadership qualities, presentation skills, business finance and business planning. The second part was a Meet the Entrepreneurs session on 7 December, when three SMBA luminaries - P.U.S.H. Music's Mr. Roy Goh, MyBagSpa's Mr. Simon Lee and D3sign's Mr. Benjamin Low - regaled the students with their inspiring success stories.

SMU GEW: Internpreneurship
It’s a phase that all students go through – the challenge of securing a good internship to gain tangible, hands-on experience in today’s corporate world. To that end, SMBA was proud to work with the Singapore Management University to host Internpreneurship 2012, in conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week, on Nov 9.

Instead of the usual MNCs and corporate bigwigs, Internpreneurship’s focus was to promote and partner local start-ups and SMEs as viable internship destinations for aspiring first-year and second-year undergraduates. SMBA luminaries who attended included Mr Simeon Ng of live music event company Music Inc, Ms Audrey Stella D’cotta of fitness studio The Moving Body and Mr Daniel Tan and Mr Benjamin Low, who own successful web design/marketing firms Capillon and D3signs respectively.

SMU Real Business: Real Journeys
SMBA recently collaborated with the Singapore Management University to host Real Journeys at the university's campus, an initiative where budding and seasoned entrepreneurs from various industries are invited to share their unique experiences with students, while at the same time inviting the students to pose critical ideas and insights.

One of SMBA's most successful luminaries - education specialist Mind Stretcher Learning Centre - was represented by its founder Mr Alvin Kuek, who delivered an inspiring speech to the attendees. The second speaker on the day was SMU alumnus Miss Yvonne Lim, who co-founded SMU Real Business three years ago in order to foster a community of like-minded individuals who are just as passionate about business building as they are at helping their peers.
